Culinary Boot Camp in Santa Maria

During the week of January 11, 2010, 24 School Food Service Staff Members from Southern Santa Barbara County attended our week long Culinary Boot Camp. Held at Santa Maria-Bonita School District's Central Kitchen at the Souza Center, the s'Cool Food Initiative's Culinary Boot Camp was presented to the following districts: Blochman, Carpinteria, Lompoc, Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, and Solvang.

This was our first Boot Camp to integrate a special new "Breakfast Preparation" Segment to the training. Groups of 6 Boot Campers showed up 45 minutes before training commenced each morning to prepare a healthy breakfast for the entire group that would qualify as a reimbursable meal. Serving Universal Breakfast is possible, and it can be simple and delicious, too.
