Sifat Reazi is a s’Cool Food Intern who joined the Initiative in its early stage, making her one of the veteran team members. Her multi-cultural upbringing allowed her, at a young age, the opportunity to taste the many flavors of the world, both literally and figuratively. After graduating high school Sifat took a year off to traverse parts of South East Asia. Viewing the wide-spread poverty and political tensions, Sifat felt compelled to understand the underlying causes behind the issues facing the globe. After returning, Sifat transferred to the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), where she pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Global Studies and graduated in 2009. It was at UCSB where she first began to collaborate with student organizations in an effort to bring about local change and awareness to global issues. Her deep interest in issues facing the world evolved into a particular interest in Global Health. This led her to the s’Cool Food Initiative in mid-2008 where she was able to gain rich insight into the issues surrounding food, health, agriculture, and sustainability. She is a big believer in the idea that global change must start locally.
Sifat assists with website development and offers general programmatic support. She supports the s’Cool Food team both in the office and in the field as they work to change the food on the plates of local Santa Barbara school children and create a community of healthy individuals.
